Consumer Complaints
This presentation will discuss the complaints pathways available to an aggrieved patient. Discussion will include NZDA complaints options including NCLO and Peer Review, HDC, DCNZ , ACC & Disputes Tribunal progression of an unresolved complaint.
The most common reasons why patients complain will be discussed and what are the outcomes patients want from their complaint. Strategies to diffuse complaints and the role of Dental Protection in resolution of the complaint will be offered.
Finally, some statistics of cases handled and case studies will be presented

Dr Yoshi Ediriweera
Dr Yoshi Ediriweera graduated from The University of Otago in 1983, and has been in general practice in New Zealand and England since then. She was an ADA executive member for more than 10 years and was the president in 2010. Currently, she is working part time as an associate dentist as well as being the National Consumer Liaison Officer for NZDA.
