Community Projects

The Wellington NZDA Branch is a non-for-profit organization and part of our aims are to give back to our local community. We have done numerous projects over the years including funding permanent and portable water fountains, purchasing reusable water kits for schools and painting murals promoting drinking water. We have also partnered with other NGOs such as Kaibosh and donated oral health products (toothbrushes and toothpaste) to food parcels being distributed across the greater Wellington region.

DCM Community Clinic

The Wellington NZDA Branch has a longstanding working relationship with DCM, where we run a free dental clinic for people experiencing homelessness, or who are at risk of homelessness. Branch member dentists and dental assistants volunteer their time and skills to treat the taumai and we are always looking for more skilled volunteers to join.

Water Projects

The Wellington NZDA Branch has been committed to the mission of making water the drink of choice for all Wellingtonians. We have funded the installation of permanent water fountains in Wellington City and Island Bay. We have purchased a portable water fountain which is being used by sports and local community groups. Our member dentists have bought water kits for over 40 schools in our region. We have even funded a Wai Water Mural in Lower Hutt.

Community Donations

The NZDA Wellington Branch has partnered with generous local sponsors: PAK'nSAVE Kilbirnie (in 2020) and MouthFresh (in 2020 and 2021) to donate thousands of units of oral health products (tooth brushes and toothpaste) to members of our community in need through Kaibosh Food Rescue. The aim of donating these products is to promote good oral health for all, for life. Brushing twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste helps prevent tooth decay and should be accessible to all New Zealanders of all ages.
