Periodontal Pathologies
The most common cases I see involve generalised periodontitis; however, sometimes the diagnosis is not so clear-cut. There may be other periodontal pathologies at play, or something else to be considered. In my presentation, I want to share a few of those cases with you. My hope is that you’ll come away with some practical tips to help you recognise, confidently diagnose and manage these patients when they show up in your chair.
Rebecca is a specialist periodontist working at Wellington Periodontics and Dental Implants. She completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Otago in 2017, graduating with distinction and received the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons academic prize. Rebecca developed an interest in surgical dentistry whilst working in the Maxillofacial and Dental Department at Waikato Hospital. After then spending time as a general dentist in Auckland, Rebecca made the decision to return to Dunedin where she completed her doctorate in Periodontology. Her doctoral research focused on the development of a novel therapeutic agent for the treatment of periodontitis. Her research work was recognised by a number of awards and scholarships.
