April Branch Meeting

  • The Wellington Club (level 4) 88 The Terrace Wellington (map)

Dr. Scott Turner

Vital Pulp Therapy

Vital Pulp Therapy (VPT) is the management of deep caries approximating the dental pulp. In recent years a better understanding of the biology of the pulpo-dentine complex and the development of new bioceramic materials have resulted in new treatment modalities to treat deep caries. VPT combined with correct case selection has the potential to improve the outcome for teeth otherwise requiring complete endodontic treatment. This presentation will attempt to outline the criteria for case selection and management of teeth with deep caries and pulpal symptoms.

Scott graduated from Otago with a BDS in 1995 and completed his MDS in Endodontics in 2003. Since that time he has been in specialist endodontic practice initially in Christchurch and in Wellington since 2006. His special interests in endodontics are management of the vital pulp, fractured instrument removal and new technology in endodontics.
